At the meteorology session of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference,
the China Meteorological Administration announced the launch of a China–Thailand
Joint Laboratory for AI meteorological disaster forecasting and early warning,
the first bilateral international lab in meteorological AI. The lab will develop
subseasonal-to-seasonal intelligent early-warning technologies for typhoons,
heavy rainfall, heat and drought, build an international demonstration platform
to support the UN Early Warnings for All initiative, and use the "Mazu"
meteorological intelligent warning system as a technology- and talent-sharing
hub for Southeast Asia and Belt and Road partner countries.
