July 17 — President Xi met Thai Prime Minister Anutin in Shanghai; Anutin was in
China to attend the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and a
high-level AI global governance meeting. Xi called for closer high-level
engagement and fuller use of the foreign- and defense-ministers “2+2” strategic
dialogue to elevate strategic cooperation. He urged acceleration of
China–Thailand railway construction and China–Laos–Thailand rail
interconnection, and expansion of cooperation in AI, aerospace and clean energy.
Xi also pushed for stronger tourism, media and education ties and continued
crackdowns on cross-border online gambling and telecom fraud to create a secure
environment for bilateral cooperation and personnel exchanges.
