As the Fed enters its pre-meeting blackout period, several regional presidents
and governors concluded a week of intensive public remarks. Vice Chair JEFFERSON
and New York Fed President Williams said policy is well positioned to drive
DISINFLATION back to the Fed's target. Governor COOK said she is prepared to act
if near-term signs of slowing inf do not appear but also wants more time to
observe the trend. Dallas Fed President Logan, an FOMC voter this year, said
rates likely need to rise further to return inf to target and signaled she could
dissent at the July meeting if the FOMC keeps the policy range at 3.50%–3.75%.
