People familiar with the matter said Apple is in early settlement talks with the U.S. Department of Justice over a 2024 antitrust suit alleging Apple monopolized the smartphone market, harmed smaller rivals and pushed up prices. Apple and the DOJ did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Sources said talks are active but no agreement is guaranteed; Apple has submitted multiple proposals to resolve the case. It is unclear whether the 15 state attorneys general that joined the DOJ suit are engaged in parallel negotiations.
