KCNA on 18 reported a N. KOREA defense ministry spokesman condemned US, Japan
and South Korea for military collusion, saying the US-hosted chiefs-of-staff
meeting on the 15th showed an effort to secure military advantage in the region
and pursue hegemonic geopolitical aims. The spokesman called the trilateral
military alignment the root cause of instability on the Korean Peninsula and
across the Asia-Pacific, and warned N. KOREA's armed forces will not allow a
shift in the regional balance of power. He said they will faithfully carry out
their constitutional mission to defeat present security challenges and potential
threats and to defend national security and regional peace.
