The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement several hours ago that four 'violating' vessels, which it accused of acting with US support, deliberately switched off navigation systems, ignored warnings from the IRGC's Strait of Hormuz control base and attempted to transit an unsafe route. Two vessels reportedly ran into trouble and were intercepted on the spot; two withdrew from the unsafe route. The IRGC said it now has full control of the Strait of Hormuz and that the only safe passage is the published designated corridor. It warned that, without coordination and permission, no oil, gas or fertilizer shipments may transit the strait and that ships entering unsafe routes under what it characterised as US hostile rhetoric risk becoming involved in incidents.
