On July 21 the Chinese foreign ministry said Beijing’s policy stance toward developing China‑UK relations is unchanged after Britain’s new prime minister took office. Premier Li Qiang sent a congratulatory message. China said it supports a long‑term, stable, comprehensive strategic partnership with the UK and is willing to cooperate with London on the basis of mutual respect and managing differences to keep bilateral ties on the right track.
