CENTCOM said US forces conducted a new round of strikes on Iran on July 20 at 9:00 p.m. EDT (July 21 9:00 a.m. Beijing), targeting a military command center, maritime operations facilities, missile and UAV launch sites and air‑defense systems to degrade Iran's ability to attack merchant ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Merchant ships continued to transit the route; since early May CENTCOM said its forces have assisted about 900 merchant ships and the passage of roughly 450 mln barrels of crude. CENTCOM said US forces remain on alert and are prepared to hold Iran accountable for unprovoked aggression against civilian vessels attempting free, open passage through the strait.
