UBS Securities China equity strategist Meng Lei said recent sharp global
volatility and a reduction in crowded tech trades have not changed his view that
technology and AI will be dominant market themes in H2. He expects tech to
sustain strong earnings growth on rapid global AI adoption and substantial
domestic policy support, with industry-themed ETFs, tech-focused active funds,
margin financing and private funds likely to see continued net inflows. For
portfolio rebalancing into H2 2026, Meng highlights three additional tradable
themes beyond AI: 1) AI capex spillovers—data centers, power equipment (eg gas
turbines), physical AI (robots) and commercial aerospace; 2) earnings-recovery
sectors—lithium batteries, chemicals, brokerages, insurers and innovative drugs,
which could attract funds if AI momentum eases; 3) exporters/overseas-revenue
beneficiaries—companies with rising foreign revenue shares and materially higher
overseas margins.
