Sources involved in Japan-US talks say JP Morgan and other US banks are set to
agree to provide financing for part of Japan's $550 billion pledge to invest in
the United States, helping Tokyo fulfil commitments made to US President Trump.
Japanese banks had been reluctant because their funding is primarily yen and
raising large amounts of dollar funding for long-dated infrastructure projects
is costly. Sources say Tokyo is actively advancing the arrangements, and US
officials have delivered an additional list of candidate projects to Prime
Minister Takaichi's government as potential follow-ups under the investment
plan.
