Solomon Islands will sign an agreement with the U.S. Coast Guard to conduct patrols, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular briefing. Lin reiterated China and the Solomon Islands are comprehensive strategic partners and Beijing is willing to expand practical cooperation with the new Solomon Islands government; he said China supports international assistance for Pacific island sustainable development and urged states developing ties with Pacific islands to respect island autonomy, prioritize development, remain open and inclusive, and ensure cooperation is not aimed at third parties.
