China foreign minister Wang Yi met a cross-party delegation from the European
Parliament foreign affairs committee. Wang said history and present realities
show China and the EU are partners, not rivals, with deeply intertwined
interests, and that they share similar stances on multilateralism, support for
the UN and free trade. He urged both sides to treat the relationship as a
partnership when addressing bilateral issues, avoid politicizing economic and
trade matters or securitizing exchanges, and promote a long-term upward dynamic
balance in China-EU trade. Wang said China is willing to strengthen coordination
with Europe on global affairs to advance an orderly multipolar world and
inclusive globalization, contributing to global peace, stability and prosperity.
