Pakistan has asked US Treasury Secretary Bessent for a $10 billion bilateral exchange-rate stabilization fund, people familiar with the request said. The facility would run for up to five years and, if approved, would boost Pakistan’s reserves, ease pressure on the Pakistani rupee and reduce reliance on multilateral financing. The request follows Islamabad’s role in brokering Iran war-related talks, which raised hopes of economic concessions from Washington and other partners.
