Yemen’s Houthi movement said on the 23rd it attacked two Saudi oil tankers,
Encelia and Layla, using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones in
retaliation for what it called a Saudi blockade and to enforce a previously
announced Red Sea shipping ban. The group said both vessels caught fire and it
forced about 10 ships to turn back. It said it will continue maritime military
operations and follow its “blockade for blockade” measures, and warned that any
new Saudi military action in Yemen would prompt larger strikes on targets inside
Saudi Arabia.
