Global corporate bond issuance reached $3.68 trillion in 1H, driven by companies raising funds for AI investment, up 10% versus Jan–Jun 2025 and the largest first-half on record. Investors are pushing for higher yields amid concern over aggressive corporate borrowing. Deal count fell 12% to 10,408, implying larger average issuance sizes. Issuance was concentrated in the United States, whose share of global corporate supply topped 30% for the first time in six years.

At close, Hang Seng Index (HSI) fell 0.95% and Hang Seng Tech Index dropped 3.04%. Gold miners led gains: Chifeng Gold (06693.HK) +15%+, Zijin Gold International (02259.HK) +9%+, Zijin Mining (02899.HK) +6%+. Coal names rallied: Yancoal Australia (03668.HK) +6%+, Yancoal/Yankuang Energy (01171.HK) ~+4%. Power-equipment stocks advanced: Xinyi Solar (00968.HK) +6%+, GCL Technology (03800.HK) +3%+. Communication equipment, nuclear power, shipping/ports, film, batteries, biopharma and oil & petrochemical sectors were active. PCB sector plunged: Kingboard Laminates (01888.HK) -15%+, Kingboard Group (00148.HK) -10%+. Internet heavyweights slid: NetEase (09999.HK) and Tencent Holdings (00700.HK) both off >7%. EVs, chips, robotics, commercial space, memory and OLED names were among the largest decliners. AI/large-model plays weakened: MINIMAX-W (00100.HK) -11%+, Zhipu Technology (02513.HK) -3%+.

Brazil's trade minister said talks with U.S. Trade Representative Greer will resume, but timing is not yet determined.
