To implement central decisions on quality work and according to the inspection plan, the Office of the Leading Group for Building a Quality Power, together with relevant member units, has dispatched a quality inspection team to Guangdong to carry out inspections. On July 21 the team met with the Guangdong provincial party committee and provincial government, briefed inspection matters and set work requirements; senior provincial government officials attended and spoke.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez told an interdepartmental crisis management center on July 25 that this year’s wildfires have burned nearly 98,000 hectares, a record. Gironde alone has exceeded 40,000 hectares. Fires in Gironde, Landes and Var remain uncontained. Nunez urged the public to avoid Gironde fire zones to allow firefighting operations. Firefighters and the military are concentrating on defending fire perimeters and are prepared for afternoon wind shifts to prevent further spread.

NVIDIA will invest $1 bln in Korean internet and cloud firm Naver to expand Naver’s under-construction AI data center, which NVIDIA says will more than double Naver’s data center capacity. The project is being co-developed with US private equity firm Brookfield and will be fully equipped with NVIDIA AI compute hardware. Separately, NVIDIA and SK Group agreed to build an AI data center cluster in Korea with total power capacity exceeding 2 GW — roughly equivalent to the electricity demand of 1.5 mln households — and SK Telecom will bring the first AI compute facility online next year.
