Al Jazeera cited sources saying the Israeli military carried out demolition operations in Nilin, west of Ramallah, and raided the Jabal Salman area in Balata south of Nablus. Last week Israeli forces stepped up West Bank operations amid escalating attacks by Jewish settlers. A shooting near Nablus earlier killed four Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers, prompting a strong Israeli response.

Iran army spokesman Akraminia said on the 26th that Tehran does not see a concrete US next-step strategy and judges Washington to be in a dilemma. He listed possible US options as withdrawal, large-scale air strikes under Israeli pressure, or a ground operation, and said Iran will watch US moves and is prepared for various scenarios. Akraminia added the conflict’s geographic scope has expanded to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and that Iranian actions have included US targets from Jordan to the Gulf littoral states.
