Korean stocks opened higher but finished lower on Wednesday as the KOSPI rallied over 3% intraday before sliding more than 1%. The index plunged 10.8% on Tuesday — its biggest one-day drop since March 4 and its lowest close since April 14. Investors are focused on domestic chipmakers and US tech earnings. Kiwoom Securities says the KOSPI is in record oversold territory with valuations near historic lows and expects a rebound on dip-buying, hopes from US‑Iran talks and easing Fed meeting concerns. SK Hynix fell over 4%, wiping out morning gains after reporting strong quarterly results pre-open that nonetheless fell short of investors' elevated, AI-driven expectations.
