According to Axios, President Zelenskiy has asked U.S. President Trump for an
emergency winter aid package including Patriot interceptor missiles, saying
Ukraine’s Patriot interceptor stocks are nearly exhausted and no longer reliably
stop Russian ballistic missiles — a major factor in recent defence failures. He
warned that if the shortage is not fixed before winter, Russia could destroy
Ukrainian power plants and leave millions without heating. Zelenskiy said Trump
had agreed to grant Ukraine a U.S. production license for Patriot interceptors,
but large-scale manufacture would take 1–5 years and cannot meet current needs;
he requested 300 interceptor missiles before winter. He added U.S. Patriot
inventories have been strained by the war with Iran, complicating transfers to
Ukraine.
