According to Al Jazeera, Pakistan's UN ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad expressed concern over rising tensions in the Middle East and urged parties to "honor commitments" under last month's memorandum of understanding. He condemned attacks on Saudi Arabia and on commercial shipping, affirmed support for Saudi security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and said that as long as Israel continues to occupy Palestinian territory "durable peace in the Middle East will remain difficult to achieve."
