Axios reported on the 29th that after US and Saudi airstrikes on Iraqi Shia militias, Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman told Vice President Vance in Washington that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman intends to ease tensions with Iran. Khalid said attacks by Iraq’s Iran-aligned militias on Saudi infrastructure and energy facilities had crossed a red line and that Saudi must respond. He added Saudi has the capability to handle Yemen’s Houthi movement and currently does not require US involvement. Sources told Axios Riyadh is negotiating with the Houthis.
