In an ABC interview, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said he could not predict whether Iran will act to disrupt global trade through the Strait of Hormuz, noting Iran has the capability but would have to weigh the consequences. He added that if energy transit is rerouted — for example from the Strait to the Red Sea and onward via Israeli links to the Mediterranean — the waterway would lose strategic value, and Israel can and will remove that bottleneck.

On the 30th, Yemen’s Houthi movement denied involvement in a fire aboard an LNG carrier and a storage vessel at Egypt’s Damietta port, the Houthi-controlled Saba news agency quoted a Houthi source as saying. The source called reports that Houthis attacked the ships “without factual basis,” said Houthi military action is directed only at Saudi Arabia, and asserted there is “no reason for concern” over Red Sea navigation safety.
