The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on July 31 it has
released the 15th Five-Year Plan for Industrial Green Low-Carbon Development.
The plan shifts emphasis from industry-only decarbonization to industry’s role
in supporting an economy-wide green transition, and calls for coordinated
promotion of industrial greening and green industrialization. It mandates deep
implementation of industrial carbon-peak measures: coordinated transformation of
industrial and energy-use structures, accelerated electrification and adoption
of green energy, stepped-up energy savings and carbon cuts in key sectors, and
specific tasks for local carbon assessment, sectoral carbon controls, corporate
carbon management, project-level carbon evaluation and product carbon
footprinting.
