Masahiko Loo at State Street said the Bank of Japan could move the next rate
hike forward to September or October rather than wait the widely expected
six-month interval; he expects a gradual path toward a terminal rate of
1.5%–1.75%. BOJ Governor UEDA said at a Friday press conference he is highly
concerned about upside inf risk and that if financial conditions are judged too
loose, the bank could accelerate the pace of hikes.
