Saudi outlet Hadaas reports the U.S. embassy in Israel warned U.S. citizens that escalation could occur in the Middle East.

On Aug 1 local time, President ZELENSKIY said Russian airstrikes killed 9 and wounded dozens. Kyiv sustained heavy damage: 18 buildings, a school, the Lithuanian embassy in Ukraine and multiple infrastructure sites were hit. Ukrainian forces shot down only one Russian ballistic missile. ZELENSKIY said ballistic-missile interception was limited mainly by a shortage of Patriot interceptor missiles.

Trump said the US and Israel have reached a consensus on a plan to disarm Hamas and that Israel has "performed very well." He said many had considered such a deal impossible, cautioned it may experience ups and downs given the complex situation on the ground, and called it a "huge breakthrough," linking the development to US progress on Iran and saying such an agreement would have been impossible four to five months ago.
