Saudi outlet alhadath reports Jordan has notified Iraq it will strike if Iran-aligned militias attack Jordan.

Russian Defence Ministry said between the night of July 31 and early August 1 local time its forces used land- and sea-based long-range precision weapons and long-range attack drones to strike Ukrainian military-industrial plants and logistics centres in Kyiv city and Kyiv region. The ministry said the struck facilities were used to produce, store and transport missiles, drones, radar systems and electronic-warfare equipment. Early on August 1 Kyiv registered multiple large explosions; Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko said Russian forces were launching ballistic missile strikes on the capital, causing casualties.

A July 28 quake forced suspension of production at multiple semiconductor fabs in Kyushu, which hosts more than 700 semiconductor-related firms. An Aug. 1 inspection found most factory exteriors intact but said strong shaking requires equipment adjustment and recalibration, delaying restarts. Sony, TSMC and Tokyo Electron facilities remain offline, with the earliest restarts targeted for next week. After the 2016 Kumamoto quake many local fabs took a month or longer to regain pre-quake capacity; recovery timing for this event is unclear, posing a material risk to Japan’s semiconductor supply chain.
