FarsNews reported National Iranian Copper Industries Co. said localizing equipment and spare-parts production for mine and smelter expansion projects avoided about €49 mln of foreign-exchange outflows in 2026, bringing cumulative savings to roughly €125 mln. The company expects to avoid a further c.€76 mln of FX outflows from 2027 expansion projects. In 2026, 7,557 spare parts were produced domestically, valued at about 9 trillion rial; domestication item count rose 17% and domestic-contract value rose 56% YoY. The company said continued localization will reduce import dependence and boost supply-chain autonomy.

Iran denied reports it had agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, saying no agreement has been reached and calling such reports rumors, sources said. A military source added that if the United States continues hostile actions the strait will remain closed; vessels may only use published routes and must obtain permission from the IRGC Navy to transit. Earlier, Israel’s Channel 12 reported Foreign Minister Araghchi had overnight accepted a proposal from the US and Qatar to reopen the strait and that this prompted President Trump to call off planned strikes on Iran.
