Vietnam recorded its eighth consecutive monthly trade deficit in July as factories expanded capacity and imports surged. July exports rose 25% YoY to $53.1bn, broadly in line with economists' 25.5% forecast, while imports climbed 41.4% YoY—above the 36.7% consensus—producing a $3.59bn deficit. Data show the US remained Vietnam's largest export market in the first seven months of 2026, with Vietnam's trade surplus with the US up 22.6% to $91.4bn; the export-dependent economy is facing renewed pressure from US tariff policy.

S&P 500 extended gains to 1%, marking its largest advance since July 16. Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.3%, Nasdaq Composite up 1.38%.
