Chinese exchanges have closed in‑machine‑room LAN trading circuits and
standardized market access via wide‑area networks, triggering a scramble for
colocation space adjacent to exchange data centers. Near the Shanghai Stock
Exchange's Jin Qiao data center, standard 4,000‑watt racks are being quoted at
about 10,000 yuan/month, up from roughly 7,000 yuan previously; availability
tightened and allocations were already limited in March–April. Multiple
quantitative firms report rack rates have risen severalfold. Firms say proximity
to the exchange data center still yields latency benefits even without direct
access to exchange machine rooms.
