YONHAP reported on Aug 4 that Chinese-made electric vehicles accounted for 35%
of EVs newly registered in South Korea in 1H 2026. The Korea Automobile Mobility
Industry Association’s analysis showed nearly 70,000 China-made EV registrations
from Jan–Jun, up 178.7% YoY. The association said the influx could accelerate EV
adoption and widen consumer choice but may raise competitive pressure on
domestic automakers and along the industry supply chain.
