Typhoon White Dolphin (No.13) at 14:00 on Aug. 5 was centered about 970 km east
of Naha in the Ryukyu Islands, with maximum winds near the center at force 14
(strong typhoon). It is expected to move westward at 20–25 km/h with little
change in intensity. Under its influence, East China Sea winds will strengthen
from the night of Aug. 6, rising to force 10–13 on Aug. 7–8, and parts of the
sea to force 13–16 from the night of Aug. 8 through Aug. 10. Zhejiang
Meteorological Observatory issued a typhoon bulletin; Zhejiang provincial
flood-control headquarters activated an offshore typhoon emergency response at
18:00 on Aug. 5 under the provincial emergency plan.
