European natural gas prices fell to EUR 52.78/MWh, down 5.6%.

On Aug 4 the Russian Defence Ministry said Russian forces had seized a settlement in Kharkiv region and over the previous 24 hours struck Ukrainian transport and energy infrastructure, logistics hubs, and UAV production and storage sites. The ministry said it continued strikes on Ukrainian ports, ships and related maritime infrastructure, alleging those facilities were used for Ukrainian military resupply. Ukraine's General Staff reported 226 engagements on the front in the past day, said Ukrainian forces repelled attacks in multiple sectors, and said missile and artillery strikes hit Russian troop concentrations and drone-control nodes; it reported shooting down 1,792 Russian drones.
