China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) today issued the country's first mandatory national cosmetics standard, "Cosmetics Safety General Requirements", to take effect in 2028 and repealing the 1987 Cosmetics Hygiene Standard. Drafting group head An Fudong said the standard differentiates controls by exposure route, user group and application site, imposing tighter limits on children's cosmetics and products for the eye area, eyelashes and lips.
