Iran said the Strait of Hormuz will only reopen to shipping after the U.S. ends
its maritime blockade of Iranian ports, even if Tehran and Oman reach an
agreement. The foreign ministry said Iran and Oman have agreed on shipping lanes
through the strait and are finalizing arrangements for joint management. Iranian
officials stressed reopening depends on the U.S. fulfilling its commitment to
end the blockade, saying insecurity in the strait stems from U.S. maritime
actions and other aggressive measures against Iran and its interests.
