Shanghai meteorological observatory says the main impact window is Aug 8–11.
From late Aug 7 through Aug 10 land gusts will increase, reaching force 8–9,
with stronger gusts in the Yangtze estuary, river/coastal areas and Yangshan
port. Heavy rain is expected Aug 8–10, with cumulative totals potentially
exceeding 100 mm. Forecast uncertainty is high after the system enters the East
China Sea due to interactions with mid‑latitude cold air, the subtropical high
and other systems; an extreme scenario of landfall in northern Zhejiang
overnight Aug 9–10 followed by northwestward movement would produce the most
severe wind and rain for Shanghai.
