On Aug. 6 President Trump signed an executive order under Section 232 of the
Trade Expansion Act of 1962 imposing minimum import prices and additional
tariffs on imported polysilicon and derivatives to support U.S. polysilicon,
semiconductor and solar supply chains. JinkoSolar said it needs further
assessment of the new measures and will communicate after analysis, including
reference to third‑party studies. Trina Solar said it mainly sells modules, that
polysilicon is only one input, its North American exports are limited and
shipments go through partners, so any immediate impact should be small.
