China’s Ministry of Emergency Management, after joint assessment with the
Ministry of Natural Resources, launched a national level-4 emergency response
for geological disasters covering Zhejiang and Fujian on Aug 7. Meteorological
forecasts attribute Typhoon No.13 White Dolphin to heavy-to-torrential rain in
parts of Zhejiang and northeastern Fujian from Aug 9–12, with some local extreme
downpours, and assess high risk of geological disasters across most of Zhejiang
and northern Fujian.
