Wall Street Journal reports U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren is urging the Commerce Department to explain a planned adjustment to inflation data that is expected to lower inflation readings and could affect interest rates. Warren says the department must publicly disclose the rationale and process for the adjustment.

China's advertising industry generated 1.037 trillion yuan in 1H 2026, up 11.3% YoY, per the State Administration for Market Regulation. Internet advertising accounted for 612.1 billion yuan, up 25.3% YoY and 86% of ad publishing revenue, cementing digital media dominance. TV and newspaper ad revenues were 19.88 billion yuan and 1.22 billion yuan, up 3.4% and 12.6% respectively; cinema ad revenue rose multiple-fold. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Fujian together earned 843.21 billion yuan in ad revenue, up 12% YoY and representing 81.3% of the national total (up 0.5 ppt).
