The US Army will open five test ranges to private firms to speed trials of
drones, counter‑UAS systems, long‑range missiles, low‑cost air‑defense
interceptors and other weapons. The initiative, framed as part of Pentagon
acquisition reform and to help replenish stocks depleted by the war with Iran,
aims to provide range access within 30 days of a reservation request versus
current waits of up to 18 months.
