Iraq's oil minister, Bassim Mohammed Hudayyer, said on Aug 8 that closure of the Strait of Hormuz has reduced Iraq's oil exports by about 75%. Iraq is negotiating with Iran for permission to route its exports but coordination is not yet in effect. Before recent US–Israel–Iran clashes, Iraq shipped roughly 3.4 mln b/d via the Strait of Hormuz; flows via the strait have fallen since the outbreak. Hudayyer said Iraq needs to find solutions to diversify oil export routes.

U.S. stocks closed higher on Friday. The Dow rose 0.28%, the S&P 500 gained 0.60% and the Nasdaq climbed 1.30%. SpaceX jumped 15.8%; Qualcomm rose 4.6% and NVIDIA gained 2.2%.
