The report said US attention had shifted to the Middle East earlier this year; the last US–Russia–Ukraine trilateral talks were held in Geneva in mid-February and a planned follow-up later that month was postponed after a US strike on Iran, with Ukrainian President ZELENSKIY accusing Moscow of seeking to delay talks.
