Zhejiang Meteorological Observatory says Typhoon White Dolphin is expected to make coastal landfall between Yuhuan and Wenling, Zhejiang, around this evening (9th). Forecast intensity: typhoon to strong typhoon, wind forces 12–14.

At 1000 CST on the 9th China's Central Meteorological Observatory upgraded its typhoon alert to red for Typhoon No.13 Baihaitun (White Dolphin). The center was at 27.9°N, 122.9°E — about 215 km east of Wenzhou in the southern East China Sea — with maximum winds near the center of 45 m/s (equivalent to 14 on the Chinese scale) and central pressure 950 hPa. Wind radii: 7-level 300–450 km, 10-level 200–250 km, 12-level 100 km. Baihaitun is moving westward at 20–25 km/h with little change in intensity forecast and is expected to make landfall along the coast between Zhoushan (Zhejiang) and Fuding (Fujian) between the evening of the 9th and early hours of the 10th, with landfall winds of 38–45 m/s (13–14); the storm should move west‑northwest inland and gradually weaken after landfall.

Typhoon White Dolphin (the year’s 13th storm) dropped 104.8 mm of cumulative rain on the eastern Hangjiahu plain. At 20:40 on Aug 9 the Jiaxing gauge on the canal rose to 2.00 m, hitting the flood-number threshold and registering the canal system’s first numbered flood of 2026 (Hangjiahu plain Flood No.1). Forecasts call for concentrated rain over the next 24 hours; together with water-management operations, Jiaxing water level is expected to rise further.
