A leisure boat capsized near Liberty Island in New York Harbor on the evening of the 8th, killing a 27-year-old woman and a five-month-old infant. Twelve people were rescued. The NYPD and FDNY said the vessel overturned at about 22:25 local time. Authorities have not confirmed whether the victims were related and said the cause is under investigation.

On Aug. 9 local time, Belgorod acting governor Shuvaev said the regional capital was struck by a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack, injuring 13 people; explosions set two cars alight and damaged multiple buildings and facilities.
