CHINA STATE PLANNER and the National Energy Administration released the coal industry's 15th Five-Year Plan, directing an accelerated rollout of AI+ across the coal sector. The plan mandates strengthened aggregation of coal-sector AI data and systematic AI deployment in exploration and design, construction and production, operations and maintenance, and safety management. It calls for fast-tracked R&D and deployment of coal-specific large models, targeting breakthroughs in intelligent sensing, autonomous decision-making and intelligent control. Authorities will build AI-integrated pilot mines to raise safety standards, accelerate intelligent retrofits of disaster-prone and major-accident mines, and promote robotic replacement of hazardous, high-risk roles.
