JP Morgan said global gas-turbine orders in Apr–Jun hit a record about 38 GW, up
29% QoQ and 71% YoY, driven by a sharp rise in power demand. The US accounted
for nearly half of orders. Analysts led by Phil Buller said data-center
expansion and broader electrification underpinned the surge; natural gas burns
cleaner than coal and offers greater reliability than wind or solar. Supply
constraints have emerged, with shortages in regions including Southeast Asia
limiting delivery of planned capacity. Analysts said a combined-cycle gas
turbine scheduled for 2031 delivery would cost roughly three times the price of
the same unit delivered last year.
