Omdia says global tablet shipments fell 10% YoY to 36.0 mln units in Q2 2026,
the first recent Q2 to lose the usual QoQ boost from back-to-school demand.
Omdia research manager Himani Mukka said constrained component supply makes
vendors unlikely to broadly prioritise tablets; manufacturers are reallocating
scarce parts to flagship and high-end models, shifting product mixes upward.
Vendors will increasingly rely on services, targeted AI strategies and new
go-to-market approaches to drive revenue and differentiate. Omdia expects tablet
shipments to keep declining through the remainder of 2026, citing limited supply
of low-cost units and consumer purchase delays amid higher prices.
