Kioxia said on Tuesday that as of Aug. 3 former parent Toshiba cut its stake from 14.48% to about 14.12%, making BCPE Pangea Cayman2, set up by Bain Capital, the largest shareholder with a 14.19% holding. Kioxia’s annual report shows SK Hynix holds bonds convertible into “almost all” of BCPE Pangea Cayman2’s voting rights; the company flagged SK Hynix’s claim as a risk that could create conflicts of interest. SK Hynix participated in the 2018 Bain-led buyout and agreed under the deal not to exceed 15% of Kioxia’s voting rights without Kioxia’s consent before 2028.

Shanghai issued a 15th Five-Year plan for its software and information services industry, setting a 2030 goal to expand industry scale to 4 tln yuan and industry value added above 1.1 tln yuan. The plan positions AI-enabled applications as the core commercial focus, aims to secure breakthroughs in AI and key software, and raise the number of firms with revenue over 10 bln yuan to 35. It calls for a higher share of high-end software, digital content and intelligent services, and the formation of internationally competitive industry bases and regional clusters to strengthen Shanghai’s role in global competition.
