Huatai Securities said a prior drag on lithium prices reflected hidden
inventories becoming visible and uncertainty about next-year demand. It expects
H2 2026 cancellation of export tax rebates to front‑load demand, and seasonal
peak demand to support a lithium-price rebound. Under a neutral 2027 scenario
(global EV sales +10–15% YoY; energy‑storage cell shipments +30–40% YoY), global
lithium carbonate supply‑demand is likely to remain tight and roughly balanced.
The firm notes recent share-price pullbacks may already embed pessimistic
lithium-price expectations and flags potential seasonal recovery opportunities
in commodities and equities.
