Trump confirmed he secretly switched planes when leaving Turkey last month,
saying the Secret Service and military required the move because of security
threats. The White House had led the public to believe he returned on Air Force
One, but he was flown on a different aircraft. The Washington Post reported the
arrangement stemmed from an Iranian assassination threat. Speaking Tuesday while
returning from Ohio to Washington, Trump said "they wanted me on another
flight...so I did" and that he had received "many threats," but he declined to
disclose details and did not explain why staff and reporters who flew back on
Air Force One were considered safe while he was not.
