Chief Executive John Lee said on Aug. 11 this year is the opening year of the
national '15th Five-Year Plan' and that the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater
Bay Area (GBA) is an important entry point for Hong Kong to integrate with and
serve the national development agenda. The SAR government will use Hong Kong's
'one country, two systems' connectivity to support high-quality GBA development,
assist mainland GBA and other provincial firms in expanding overseas, and
attract international high-end talent and capital to boost growth. Public
consultation on Hong Kong's first five-year plan closes Aug. 14; the government
plans to publish detailed measures next month.
